How You Can
Help
This
project is being made possible through the support of others. If you find this subject
matter interesting or useful, please consider becoming a part of the work
to expand and improve this informational tool. Additionally, your
support will allow it to grow, move to a permanent server with adequate
storage space and fund the labor and technology necessary to digitize and
share the library. Here are some
areas where you can help:
Library
Donations: If you have old agriculturally related books,
bulletins, brochures, magazines, catalogs, old seed packets, memorabilia, etc. that you
would like to donate, please contact us. Please do not ever think that something is trivia or trash. So keep
an open mind next time you are cleaning out an old attic, basement or barn, or see a box of old catalogs and magazines at that next estate sales
you are at. I cannot over emphasize how important historical documentation is to seed variety preservation work.
Catalog
Scans:
If you have old catalogs in your collection that are not represented here,
and you are not interested in donating them,
please consider taking the time to scan the pages into digital images and
sending them to us. We would prefer to receive them in high
resolution format on a CDROM.
When
submitting scans, please do not tag the images in a way that defaces the
image. If you are interested in receiving credit for your effort, we
will list you on the donors page.
We have a very
clear copyright and appropriate use statement
for the site and the catalog scan section is only available to
participating members that have agreed to these policies. We hope
that you feel comfortable that the information that you are providing will
help to support this project by adding valuable content and important information to
horticultural researchers.
If you do not have the technology to
scan files or create CDs, please contact us. We may be able to arrange to do this for you.
Writing: If you like to research and write articles and are so inclined, we welcome well researched, well documented, well written biographies of
historic seedsmen or old seed companies. The article can accepted in either plain text or
Microsoft Word file formats. Please include a detailed bibliography
of your references and copies if possible.
Financial
Support: Any donations, no matter how small, will be directly applied to the maintenance
and improvement of this project.
At this time,
we do not have the ability to accept credit cards. If you would like to
make a donation, you can mail donations to
the Victory Horticultural Group, LLC, PO Box
767, Molalla, Oregon 97038, make a note that it is for the Victory
Horticultural Library, and it will be accounted for on our Finance
Report page.
