Obituary of David B. Gross

 
     
     

EAST ENOSBURGH ­­ David Bruce Gross, age 68, passed away Saturday October 4, 2008 at the Fletcher Allen Health Care Facility in Burlington.

David was born January 3, 1940 in St. Albans the son of the late Avery & Hazel (Stevens) Gross. David was a 1959 graduate of Enosburg Falls High School. Following high school David entered the U.S. Army receiving an honorable discharge on March 31, 1969.

David was a lifelong farmer and sugarmaker. He especially liked to make Maple syrup, garden, work in the woods logging, and sell hay which gave him the opportunity to visit with friends and neighbors.

He is survived by a brother-in-law, Gilbert Shover of Richford; nieces, Carole Johnson and her husband Richard, Jacqueline Desmarais and her husband Richard, and Elaine Thompson and her husband Steven; nephew, Alan Shover and his wife Linda; several great nieces and great nephews; many friends and neighbors especially Dan Randall and his family.

Besides his parents David was predeceased by a brother, Hugh Gross; a sister, Shirley Shover; two nieces, Louise & Linda Shover.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls with Pastor Patrick Hoaldey officiating. Interment will follow in the Enosburgh Center Cemetery.

A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2:00 PM until the hour of the funeral. For those who wish, contributions in David’s memory may be made to the Enosburgh Ambulance Service, 83 Sampsonville Rd., Enosburg Falls, VT 05450.
