Obituary of Hugh S. Gross

 
     
     

EAST ENOSBURGH ­­ Hugh S. Gross, age 66, died Saturday morning April 12, 2003, at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.

He was born Dec. 27, 1936, in Enosburgh, the son of the late Avery and Hazel (Stevens) Gross.

He was a life long resident of Enosburgh and a 1955 graduate of Enosburgh Falls High School. Along with his brother, David, he owned and operated a farm and sugar house in East Enosburgh. Hugh especially enjoyed sugaring, having spent all day Friday in the sugar house boiling with his brother, David. He also enjoyed working in their vegetable garden and planting gladiolas.

He is survived by his brother, David Gross, of East Enosburgh; a brother-in-law, Gilbert Shover, of Richford; three nieces and a nephew; many close friends and neighbors. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Shirley Shover.

Visiting hours will be held one hour prior to the funeral which will be held Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls. Interment will follow in the Enosburgh Center Cemetery.
