Jackie
Marion Shores, 82, passed away on Dec. 25, 2013, in Tularosa. He was born
on June 8, 1931, in Chaffee, Missouri, to Henry and Ethel (Watson) Shores.
He was a United States Air
Force veteran of the Korean War. He was a jet mechanic and worked at
Holloman Air Force Base and for the Southern Union Gas Company. There was
nothing he could not do, but his number one love was farming.
He was well known at the
local farmer's market for a sweet melon that he raised every year known as
the 'Tularosa
Market' melon.
Survivors include his wife,
Barbara Shores, of Tularosa; son Don Shores and wife, Sally, of Ft. Worth,
Texas, and David Shores and wife, Rhonda, of Lufkin, Texas; daughters,
Jennifer Ray and husband, Duane, of Hobbs, Sharon Shores and Sandy Smith,
of Tampa, Florida; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and a sister
Bonnie Groom of Farmersville, Texas.
He was preceded in death by
his parents, two brothers Jerry Shores and Danny Shores and three sisters
Dimple Paul, Pat Hooper and Dean Anderson.
Memorial services was held
at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 4, 2014, in the Alamogordo Funeral Home Chapel
with Chuck Moon officiating.
The Shores family has
entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct
the funeral services. Cremation has taken place at PCS.
